As Warehouse and Logistics Manager, you will spearhead the company’s warehousing and logistics functions, working closely with the Stock Controller and collaborating across departments to guarantee product availability and operational excellence that supports business growth.
Key Responsibilities for Warehouse and Logistics Manager Jobs in Lusaka
- Warehouse Operations: Direct daily activities including receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns while enforcing standard operating procedures and internal controls.
- Inventory Management: Partner with the Stock Controller to maintain inventory accuracy, resolve stock discrepancies, manage damaged or obsolete stock, and support physical stock counts.
- Inbound Logistics & Customs: Coordinate shipments, customs clearance, and transportation to the warehouse, ensuring timely processing and proactive delay management.
- Outbound Logistics & Distribution: Oversee distribution to branches, hubs, and service centres, optimizing delivery accuracy, timeliness, and route efficiency.
- Vendor Management: Supervise clearing agents, freight forwarders, and transporters, monitoring service quality, costs, and performance.
- Supply Planning: Collaborate with Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations teams to align logistics capacity with demand.
- Cost & Budget Management: Track warehouse and logistics expenditures, manage budgets, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service.
- Safety & Compliance: Uphold high standards of health, safety, security, and regulatory compliance within warehouse operations.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the warehouse and logistics team, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with d.light’s core values.
- Performance & Continuous Improvement: Monitor key performance indicators, generate reports, and drive operational enhancements and process digitisation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIPS, CILT, or APICS/ASCM are advantageous.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in warehousing, logistics, supply chain, or distribution, including leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in warehouse operations, inbound/outbound logistics, customs clearance, and transportation management.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers, budgets, vendor performance, and cost optimisation.
- Knowledge of Zambian customs and import regulations, as well as ERP and Warehouse Management Systems.
- Experience in high-volume product environments is preferred.
Technical and Behavioural Skills
- Strong skills in warehouse and inventory management, logistics coordination, customs and freight management, and vendor relations.
- Competence in logistics cost control, ERP systems, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
