To facilitate the implementation of its activities, World Relief Rwanda wishes to recruit a qualified and well-experienced candidate to fill the position of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program Coordinator. The job description and requirements for this position are as follows:


Job Description
Job Title: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Program Coordinator
Department: Program’s Impact and Quality (PIQ)
Location: Kigali
Start Date: Immediate
Length of Opportunity: Open-ended
Reports to: Program Quality Sr. Manager
General Function: WASH Program coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation, monitoring and Coordination of all World Relief Rwanda’s WASH program activities. Supervise and work closely with water project staff. Upon delegation, be World Relief’s liaison with Rwanda line ministries and other organizations partnering with WRR in WASH.


Duties:

  • Coordinate the implementation of Water Project activities in field and ensure that all planned activities are successfully accomplished
  • Work closely with Water project technical advisors to assess appropriate technologies to use for on-going and future water projects.
  • Access new areas of vulnerability related to WASH and inform water project strategic direction.
  • In collaboration with the PIQ Director and finance department, ensure that there is appropriate use of resources and monitor closely budget use.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Water Project narrative Reports and other communication tools to be shared with project stakeholders
  • Direct oversight and supervision of the Water Project staff
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation of water project and ensure that there is a proper recording keeping of distribution and placement of Rain Water Harvesting System (RWHS), Sand and Membrane (SAM) II filters, SAM III and slow sand filters.
  • Archive and oversee the signing of contracts with churches, schools, and health centers that have RWHS and SAM II installations.
  • In collaboration with Church Empowerment Zone (CEZ) Coordinators, ensure that the project is well integrated in the process of empowering the local church and that the church owns the project and can continue to oversee home visits and work of volunteers
  • Liaise with line ministries and other organizations partnering with WRR on Water Project
  • Coordinate with WRR Logistics department on the shipment of project supplies from donors and all other Water Project related logistic needs.
  • Seek out and participate in continuing education opportunities related to project development and water technologies.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • University degree in Public Health, Community Development/Development studies or similar field.
  • Able to model exemplary moral and social behaviors acceptable in the Rwandan culture through own actions
  • He/she is committed to the mission and values of World Relief Rwanda
  • Strong interpersonal skills are vital.
  • Organized, with strong capacity building and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, and to deal with problems/issues promptly and efficiently
  • Strong reporting skills in both program and financial reporting
  • He/she has good communication skills and is able to clearly voice and promote the Water Project and the World Relief goals and vision.
  • Proficient Computer Skills with ability to use programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, DropBox, etc.
  • He/she has a Project Management experience. Past experience in international NGO is an added advantage
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda. French is an advantage


Experience Required:

  • He/she has at least 2 years of working knowledge in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and other Water Project technologies.
  • Understanding of Rwanda government national policies related to WASH
