Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
Role Overview:
The Weighbridge Operator will be responsible for accurately weighing incoming and outgoing raw materials, packaging, and finished goods at Eastern Tropical Fruits Limited (ETF). This role plays a critical function in ensuring that all weight measurements are recorded precisely and reported timely to relevant departments. The operator will manage weighbridge systems, maintain accurate documentation, and uphold operational integrity in line with company procedures, food safety standards, and audit requirements.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Accurately weigh all incoming and outgoing vehicles carrying raw materials, packaging, or finished products
- Generate and issue weighbridge tickets and ensure data is accurately captured in logs and systems.
- Record weights in both electronic and physical formats to maintain traceability for audits and inventory purposes
- Ensure weighbridge operations comply with internal SOPs and relevant regulations.
- Report any discrepancies in weights, vehicle movements, or documentation to the Logistics or Operations Manager.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly weighbridge reports for stock and production reconciliation.
- Liaise with Production, Stores, Procurement, and Security teams to ensure smooth vehicle movement.
- Verify truck driver details and maintain professional interactions during vehicle processing.
- Operate weighbridge software and associated hardware, ensuring calibration is up to date.
- Conduct routine checks on weighbridge equipment and report malfunctions promptly.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating a weighbridge in a manufacturing, agricultural, or logistics environment.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Familiarity with weighbridge software systems and basic computer literacy.
- Knowledge of stock movement processes and food safety procedures is an added advantage.
- Membership with a recognized professional regulatory body is desirable.
