JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for fabricating works on machines, penstocks, trash racks and other metal structures in the power plant, repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape.

Key Responsibilities
1. Perform welding repairs and installation of new weldments on power block and solar field equipment and systems.
2. Perform fabrication works on machines, penstocks, trash racks and damaged metal structures in the power plant.
3. Participate in and complete all training sessions, safety classes, pre-shift meetings, and/or certifications related to the position.
4. Conduct regular preventative maintenance inspections of all equipment and work areas to identify hazards, clean equipment, and repair and maintain operational condition of facilities and equipment.
5. Perform routine safety checks on equipment prior to start and maintain all records pertinent to the job.
6. Conduct general welding and fabrication works as may be instructed by the supervisor.
7. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
8. Read and understand blueprints prior to starting a project.
9. Repair works on domestic water reticulation systems.
10. Ensure rail track line rollers are in good condition.
11. Weld and assemble metal structures as assigned.
12. Conduct welding works on the Skip and Hoist.
13. Adhere to proper safety procedures.
14. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications
• Craft Certificate in Metal Fabrication
• Minimum 5 years of experience in welding
• Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
• Qualification in Coded Welding will be an added advantage.
