Background

The primary mandate of the role is to sell Paratus products and solutions into existing strategic customers and to sell our solutions to prospects in the Zambian medium and large enterprise market. Success is recognised by achieving an annual sales target, growing the customer base and the retention of existing customers.

The role requires the person to interact and liaise at various senior technology levels therefore the person must be self-assured, confident, understand relevant technologies and be commercially literate.

The role carries an annual sales and revenue target with commission paid on achieving milestones and target. Customer retention is key and incentivised accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

The Account Manager;

  • Must be able to articulate the benefits of the technology(s) Paratus has in its portfolio and align to a business benefit.
  • Relationships need to be built and maintained with senior levels in the IT and networking departments of prospects customers therefore communication skills both verbal and written, need to be at a high level.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of the features and capabilities of Microsoft Outlook and be a highly proficient user.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of the features and capabilities of Microsoft Word and be a highly proficient user.
  • All sales related roles have a target which the Account Manager needs to achieve
  • Must clearly understand the company's sales process and actively follow this sales process.
  • Must clearly understand their annual target and the methodology and methods required to achieve it.
  • Must have plans to grow and develop their designated strategic customers.
  • Must monitor, measure and manage their selling performance. Be able to respond to the results.
  • Must be able to generate leads for themselves

Paratus is a Digital Service Provider providing end-to-end solutions based on a foundation of telecommunications, data centre and cloud technologies therefore a good working knowledge of the principles of these technologies and Paratus products aligned to these technologies is required.

  • Must be able to draw and price solutions as per the Paratus price list.
  • Must understand the capabilities and business benefits of connectivity and DC/cloud technologies and products as per Paratus's portfolio.
  • Be able to recommend commercial options that is a benefit both Paratus and the prospect / customer based on Paratus products.
  • Must be proficient in a drawing tool (Microsoft PowerPoint and/or Visio / and or Draw.io)
  • Commercial acumen is essential
  • Must be able to determine affordability of the prospect / customer and the value of the products and solutions being sold.
  • Must be able to price solutions that are beneficial to both Paratus and the customer. Create value for both parties.
  • Must have a very good understanding of the features and capabilities of Microsoft Excel and be a highly skilled user.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Formal education: Preferably a tertiary based certification relevant to the role.
  • A minimum of 6 years of selling experience of technology products and solutions.
  • Must have, at minimum, achieved your sales target 3 times over your last 4 years of account management.
  • Valid driver’s license, passport and travel documents.
  • Must be able to articulate the benefits of the technology(s) Paratus has in its portfolio and align to a business benefit.
