VACANCY: ACCOUNTANT – LAW FIRM
The successful candidate will work closely with the Partners and legal teams to ensure the efficient delivery of effective financial and administrative controls, and the smooth running of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the firm’s day-to-day accounting and financial records.
- Preparing invoices, receipts, payment schedules and financial reports.
- Monitoring client accounts, outstanding balances and collections.
- Maintaining accurate records of income, expenses, disbursements and firm expenditures.
- Preparing bank reconciliations and maintaining the firm’s cashbook.
- Processing payroll and ensuring statutory deductions and properly accounted for.
- Assisting with budgeting, cash-flow management and financial planning.
- Maintaining proper records for audit and tax compliance purposes.
- Liasing with banks, auditors, clients, and relevant statutory authorities where necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable accounting, tax and financial reporting requirements.
- Providing management with accurate and financial information to support decision-making.
- Performing any other accounting and administrative duties assigned by management.
- Provide Partners with regular management and financial reports.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- Professional Accounting Qualification such as ZICA, ACCA or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within a professional service or law firm environment.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and statutory obligations
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong organisational, analytical and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of professional services businesses.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience working in a Zambian law firm will be an added advantage.
