About Lusaka Child Development Agency
Lusaka Child Development Agency (LKCDA), an implementing partner of ChildFund Zambia, is a child- and youth-centered non-governmental organization committed to improving the wellbeing of deprived, excluded, and vulnerable children. The Agency works in partnership with communities to promote the active participation of children, youth, and families as agents of their own development.
Position Summary
The Accountant will lead the financial management and compliance functions of the Agency, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with statutory and donor requirements.
The role plays a critical part in safeguarding organizational resources, strengthening financial accountability, and providing timely financial insights to support effective programme implementation and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in line with organizational policies and standards
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and donor financial reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and manage cash flow forecasts
- Ensure proper coding and recording of all financial transactions
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including NAPSA, PAYE, and other regulatory requirements
- Enforce adherence to organizational financial policies, procurement procedures, and donor guidelines
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Support budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making
- Monitor utilization of funds and support financial oversight of Community Associations
Payments & Financial Operations
- Process payments, staff advances, and reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain proper financial documentation and filing systems (both physical and electronic)
- Ensure effective management of organizational assets, liabilities, and financial records
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent, with valid membership to the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in financial accounting and controls
- Experience working in an NGO or donor-funded environment is an added advantage
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and payroll systems (e.g., Dove Payroll)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
