Camco Equipment Zambia Limited now seeks to appoint suitably qualified Agriculture Business Supervisor to be based in Lusaka.

POSITION: Agriculture Business Supervisor

Reporting to: Projects and Investments Manager.

Job Summary: The Agriculture Business Supervisor supports the Exports & Imports (International Trading) Department by carrying out all field-level and administrative tasks related to sourcing agricultural commodities for export. The role focuses on identifying and engaging farmers, cooperatives, and suppliers to secure crops such as macadamia, soybeans, wheat, cashew nuts, and other agro-produce required for international markets, particularly China. The incumbent is responsible for conducting field visits, assessing crop availability and quality, gathering market intelligence, government and quasi government officials engagements, maintaining supplier databases, and assisting with all departmental documentation and coordination. This position ensures smooth linkages between on-the-ground activities and the company’s overall trading operations.

Main tasks and responsibilities.

  • Conduct regular field visits to farms and cooperatives to identify available crops such as macadamia, soybeans, wheat, cashew nuts, and any other agro-produce of commercial interest.
  • Build and maintain relationships with farmers, aggregators, agents, and local suppliers.
  • Verify crop quality, volumes, harvest timelines, and pricing directly on the ground.
  • Gather market intelligence and generate field reports on crop availability, production trends, and pricing changes.
  • Source reliable buyers and sellers of agro-produce aligned with the company’s export objectives.
  • Support the onboarding and vetting of new suppliers to ensure compliance with export quality standards.
  • Assist in coordinating negotiations under the guidance of the International Trade Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of all field activities, supplier databases, price lists, crop inventories, and correspondence.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on field progress, supplier engagement, and crop sourcing status.
  • Assist with export documentation, contract filing, data entry, and logistic preparations.
  • Support internal operations such as scheduling meetings, processing purchase orders, and preparing briefs for senior management.
  • Ensure sourced products meet the quality specifications required for export markets, especially China.
  • Monitor adherence to industry standards, phytosanitary requirements, and internal procurement procedures.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field.
  • Valid Practicing Certificate.
  • Experience in field operations, agro-sourcing, or commodity trading is an added advantage.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within farming regions.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with farmers and suppliers.
  • Good understanding of agricultural commodities and crop cycles.
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
