About the Programme

Good Nature Agro’s Perennial Program is designed to develop a new generation of commercially successful farmers while strengthening GNA’s future supply chain. The programme provides agricultural professionals with access to land, practical support, and a pathway to build viable farming enterprises.

The eight-month internship gives interns the opportunity to learn directly from experienced Perennial Farmers, developing skills required for a potential career in agricultural leadership — including a possible transition to a Field Supervisor role.

Each intern will be allocated a small production block to manage, progressively taking on greater responsibility throughout the placement.

1.Farm Production & Agronomy

• Participate in all stages of crop production, from land preparation and planting through to harvesting and post-harvest handling.
• Support the Perennial Farmer in implementing recommended agronomic practices and production plans.
• Conduct routine field observations and identify crop, pest, disease, soil and other production issues.
• Support crop scouting, data collection and field assessments.
• Participate in demonstrations and trials of new crops, varieties and production practices.
• Maintain accurate farm production records including planting, inputs, labour, crop development and harvest data.
• Learn and apply Good Nature Agro’s quality, production and seed-handling standards.

2.Farm Operations & Labour Management

• Support the planning and coordination of daily farm activities.
• Support proper use, storage and maintenance of farm tools, equipment and inputs.
• Promote safe working practices and compliance with farm health, safety and environmental requirements.

3.Farmer & Extension Skills

• Observe and support the Perennial Farmer in communicating technical information to farm workers.
• Develop the ability to explain agronomic practices clearly and practically.

This internship is also a pathway toward a Field Supervisor role.

4.Data, Reporting & Technology

• Capture and maintain accurate field and farm data.
• Prepare basic farm and field reports under the guidance of the Perennial Farmer.
• Report field observations, challenges and emerging risks in a timely manner.
• Develop proficiency in Excel and other tools required for field management and reporting.

5.Commercial & Financial Understanding

• Develop an understanding of farming as a business rather than only as a production activity.
• Participate in farm budgeting, cost tracking and production planning.
• Understand the relationship between yields, input costs, labour costs, quality and profitability.
• Support monitoring of farm income and expenditure under the guidance of the Perennial Farmer.

6.Learning & Professional Development

• Participate in training and learning activities through Good Nature University.
• Maintain a personal learning and development log throughout the eight-month placement.
• Participate in regular performance reviews with the Perennial Farmer and GNA.
• Demonstrate progressive improvement in technical knowledge, leadership, communication and problem-solving.
• Take responsibility for an allocated production block and manage it independently over time.

7.Living and Working on the Farm

• Maintain professional conduct and discipline at all times.
• Respect the Perennial Farmer, farm workers, surrounding communities and farm property.
• Participate actively in the day-to-day running of the farm.
• Maintain appropriate standards of personal responsibility, hygiene, safety and care of accommodation.
• Commit to the agreed farm schedule and responsibilities.

• Experience in agricultural practices is beneficial but not strictly required as training will be provided.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to farm life.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic understanding of farming as a business is a plus.
