Job Purpose
To ensure that maintenance and repair work on the plant are carried out in accordance with statutory requirements, while guiding the labour force to meet company targets efficiently and without undue delays.
Key Responsibilities
The holder of this position will be required to comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and legal regulations regarding health, safety, environment, quality, finance, human resources, and any other requirements applicable to the role.
- Report to the Mechanical Supervisor – HPL, Acid, Oxygen, and Lime Plants.
- Responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment within the HPL, Acid, Oxygen, and Lime Plants.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of safety requirements and implement safe work practices at all times.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Independently prioritise workloads and ensure tasks are completed to the required standard.
- Maintain a high level of safety awareness and compliance.
- Manage company property responsibly, including spares and tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve engineering-related problems as they arise.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying and solving operational issues.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the work area.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Area Supervisor or Senior Supervisor.
- Apply effective planning skills in executing maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- Minimum Artisan Level G6 (Craft Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent).
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on static plant machinery in HPL, Acid, Oxygen, or similar processing plants, with exposure to:
- Autoclaves
- Slurry pumps
- Valves
- Pressure vessels
- Pipe installations
- Pressure vessels and piping systems
- Gasket specification and application
- Centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
- Chain hoists
- Thickeners
- Conveyor belts
- Acid pumps and tanks
- Valves (various types)
- Agitators
- Gearboxes
- Mechanical seals
- Hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
- Compressors and blowers
Behavioral Traits
- Strong ability to liaise and negotiate at all levels.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure and in demanding situations.
- Remains focused, calm, and professional at all times.
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Highly disciplined and self-driven.
- Strong safety consciousness and commitment to safe work practices.
