In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing business environment on the other, we are seeking highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant position:
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT-BANKS AND FIXED ASSETS, SALARY GRADE GRADE 2 (3 POSITIONS), FINANCE & TREASURY FUNCTION
A. PURPOSE
Reporting to the Accountant-Fixed Assets and Banks, the jobholder will reconcile all ZRA bank accounts to ensure that all funds and expenditure are duly authorised and approved, and manage all ZRA assets to ensure that all assets created are correctly labelled before distribution to various stations and offices in accordance with the ZRA Asset Policy.
B. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsibilities or duties
- Ensure all government funding is correctly accounted for, receipted and posted to the general ledger.
- Ensure that all receipts received are banked on time and properly accounted for.
- Perform bank reconciliations for all ZRA accounts to ensure that all funds and expenditure are duly authorised and approved.
- Ensure all ZRA fixed assets are captured in the Asset Register as and when assets are procured.
- Perform General Ledger account reconciliations.
- Carry out annual asset verification exercises for all ZRA assets countrywide.
- Ensure that all assets created are correctly labelled or backdated before distribution to various stations or offices.
- Capture letters of funds transfers onto SAP to ensure that payment is on time system according to the bank.
- Ensure that all payments have been transferred into our account before issuing a receipt.
- Ensure proper filing for all accountable documents for future reference, auditing and safe keeping.
- Facilitate ZRA internal bank transfers.
- Ensure that all documents received and under custody are availed to users, including auditors and superiors.
C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications or requirements
- Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- University Degree in Accounting or any equivalent professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
D. OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership and analytical skills.
- Personal organisation and planning skills.
- Good accounting skills.
- Computer skills including SAP, Pastel, and Sun System.
Experience needed
- Minimum of two (2) years post-qualifying experience.
