Responsibilities or duties

The key responsibilities for this role include but not limited to the following:

  • Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date fixed asset register in line with MTN Zambia accounting policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of asset acquisitions, disposals, impairments, and decommissioning costs.
  • Apply correct depreciation methods, rates, and residual values in accordance with IAS/IFRS.
  • Monitor and report on capital expenditure (CAPEX), ensuring proper classification and capitalization.
  • Obtain and manage Capital Acceptance Certificates for qualifying capital expenditure.
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset reconciliations and support financial reporting processes.
  • Provide accurate and timely fixed asset reports for management, audit, and statutory purposes.
  • Support external and internal audits by providing asset‑related schedules and documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage the insurance of company assets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and automation opportunities within fixed asset accounting.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Candidate Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate with 5 credit or better of which English and Mathematics are a must
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or professional qualification (ZICA, AAT, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of IFRS / IAS and accounting standards relating to fixed assets

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience, preferably in fixed assets or capital expenditure accounting
  • Experience in a telecommunications or highly regulated environment is advantageous
