Background
In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing business environment on the other, we are seeking highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant position:
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT - TREASURY, SALARY GRADE ZRA06.1 POSITIONS: FINANCE & TREASURY FUNCTION
A. PURPOSE
Reporting directly to the Treasury Accountant, the job holder will be responsible for monitoring, verifying and reconciling tax and agency fee collections for both Cash Office and E-Payment provider platforms and ensuring that all Government revenue in Commercial Banks is timely remitted (except to the correct Revenue Account at Bank of Zambia).
B. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure that all Electronic Bank Statements (EBS) of assigned Commercial Banks are received and are uploaded into SAP;
- Check bank records of tax revenue and agency fees collected against reports generated from the Tax Online or AycudaWorld systems daily and ensure that the two agree;
- Make follow ups on reconciling items and resolve within 24 hours;
- Process journal entries for all manual cashbook entries to ensure all revenue transactions are recorded;
- Prepare schedules for delayed credits on Commercial Bank accounts and delayed remittances of deposits to Bank of Zambia;
- Ensure signed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with all stakeholders;
- Prepare and submit signed Monthly Bank Reconciliation Statements;
- Undertake Revenue verification exercise to ensure that there are no revenue leakages in both Cash Office and e-payment Provider Platforms;
- Adhere to Treasury Procedures and Policies when carrying out the day to day revenue monitoring and reconciliation activities; and
- Provide timely feedback on E-Payment system performance to all stakeholders.
C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 School Certificate or General Certificate of Education with at least five (5) Credits including English and Mathematics;
- University degree in Accounting or Banking & Finance, and/Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, ZICA;
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant post-qualifying work experience in a similar role; and
- Must have a valid membership and 2025 practicing license of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants or relevant profession.
