Tera Fleet Management Limited seeks to employ an Assistant Driver Manager in the Flat & Acid Fleet Department to join our growing team.

POSITION:

AssistantDriver Manager (X1)

DEPARTMENT:

Flat & Acid Department

LOCATION:

Ndola, Sakania

JOB PURPOSE

The overall purpose of the role is to manage and monitor driver performance, enforce discipline and supervise driver activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Logistics and Operations Management

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of fleet operations, including route planning, trip coordination, border clearance, and driver scheduling.
  • Ensure efficient dispatch and timely delivery of goods.
  • Monitor ongoing trips and address operational challenges proactively.

2. Driver Supervision and Performance Management

  • Supervise daily driver activities and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments and provide coaching, guidance, and corrective action where necessary.
  • Lead pre-trip briefings to communicate expectations, safety requirements, and operational instructions.
  • Address and resolve driver-related issues and concerns in a timely manner.

3. Safety and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce safe driving practices to minimize accidents and incidents.
  • Monitor driver behavior, including speed, harsh braking, and fatigue.
  • Ensure all incidents and accidents are properly investigated and reported within required timelines.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the fleet.

4. Fleet and Documentation Control

  • Ensure all drivers and vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with local and regional transport regulations.
  • Verify that all required documents—such as driver’s licenses, passports, permits, insurance, and road tax—are valid and up to date.
  • Conduct pre-dispatch vehicle inspections to confirm mechanical soundness and compliance.
  • Ensure all trip documentation, including trip sheets and delivery records, is accurate, complete, and properly maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Transport & Logistics Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration or any relevant field.
  • At least three (03) years of hands on experience in cross-border fleet management or logistics or transport operations.
  • Must have previous experience supervising cross border truck drivers.
  • Class CE Driver’s license will be an added advantage.
  • Must be resident in Ndola, or willing to re-locate.

OTHER PREFERENCES

Communication Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with drivers, operations team, and management.
  • Ability to coordinate with tracking officers and dispatch teams.
  • Good report writing and communication skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of GPS tracking systems (Tramigo, iFleet, and Track & Trace).
  • Ability to analyze trip reports, speed reports, and fuel usage.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good decision-making abilities.
  • High level of discipline and integrity.

Other Requirements:

  • Willing to work flexible hours and handle emergencies.
  • Ability to travel when necessary to support drivers in transit.

NOTE.

All interviews shall be conducted in-person at our Sakania Office in Ndola.

Salary negotiable based on experience and skills.
