We are hiring: Assistant in the Consular and Visa section (part-time, 50%)

The position is offered for one year, starting on 1st March 2026, with the option to be extended on the basis of a permanent contract.

Main duties:

  • Attending to customers in the German Embassy’s department of Legal and Consular Affairs, in particular advising on and processing passport and visa applications as well as applications for legalizations, authentications and certifications
  • Processing applications by using the digital tools provided
  • Responding to email and telephone enquiries regarding consular matters
  • Corresponding with applicants, German and foreign authorities and prepare drafts

Qualifications required:

  • Excellent German language skills (native speaker level)
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Certificate grade 12 or equivalent
  • Good, expandable knowledge of common IT applications
  • Good communication skills, ability to work in a team
  • Organisation skills, good intellectual skills

Regular working hours amount to 20 hours per week. Remuneration is paid according to the Embassy´s current salary grid. The employment contract is based on Zambian labour law.

Applicants without the Zambian nationality are required to provide proof of their Zambian permanent residence and work permits.

Successful candidates have to undergo a health examination as well as a security check before being employed.
