Background

The LUSAKA APEX MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (LAMU) is a privately owned University, accredited by the Higher Education Authority under the Higher Education Amendment Act No. 23 of 2021 to provide Higher Education in Medical Education. LAMU is regulated by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ), Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA). Lusaka Apex Medical University is therefore looking for a mature, proactive, and highly motivated and result oriented Zambian with high degree of credibility to fill the following position:

Job Purpose

To assist the Registrar in managing, coordinating and directing the functions at Faculty Level in order to provide effective support in the functioning of the University.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the communication between students and the dean's offices.
  • Maintains and updates student records such as registration status, attendance, filling of final grades and academic progress, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Supervises functions pertaining to student registration, admissions, administration of examinations and general academic affairs of the faculty.
  • Keeps records of students in the faculty.
  • Ensures students who are learning have paid
  • Keeps records of all staff, both Full-time and honorary i.e. qualifications, number of lecturers delivered per week etc, and submit reports on a weekly basis.
  • Liaise with the dean’s office and other faculty members on matters related to curriculum development program evaluation, accreditation and student affairs.
  • Perform secretarial function at Faculty meetings.
  • Organise and facilitate orientation registration, graduation, and other academic events for students.
  • Attend meetings of the Graduation Ceremony Committee
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, regarding academic matters.
  • Participate in professional development activities and committees to enhance the quality of service and education in the faculty.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Grade 12 school certificate with at least five credits that must include English language, Mathematics and Science or its equivalent
  • Degree in MBChB or any relevant Social Science
  • All academic qualifications and results must be Validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
  • At least two (2) years relevant experience in the medical field
