Background
We are urgently seeking a skilled Site Survey Assistant to support the Engineering team. The successful candidate must be highly proficient in practical surveying tasks, specifically setting out and level determination, to ensure the rapid and accurate progression of civil works.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setting Out: Accurately establish and mark out grid lines, foundation points, center lines for roads, and structural boundaries based on engineering drawings.
- Leveling: Perform precise leveling tasks to determine existing ground levels, formation levels, and finished floor levels (FFL) using automatic levels (dumpy levels) and total stations.
- Profile Installation:Erect and maintain profile boards, sight rails, and batter boards for earthworks and concrete works.
- Equipment Management: Set up, operate, and care for survey instruments (Total Station, Theodolite, Auto Level, GPS) ensuring they are calibrated and protected.
- Data Recording:Maintain clear and accurate field notes of all measurements, levels, and setting out positions.
- Assistance:Assist the Site Engineer with as-built surveys, volume calculations for earthworks, and checking verticality of formwork.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:Certificate or Diploma in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience on a construction site, specifically in a surveying role.
- Core Competency (ESSENTIAL):
- Must demonstrate high proficiency in setting out. The ability to interpret drawings and independently transfer points from plan to ground is required.
- Must be excellent at determining levels. Strong ability to read staff readings, calculate reduced levels (RLs), and establish benchmarks.
- Equipment Knowledge:Proven ability to use Auto Levels (Dumpy Levels) and Total Stations. Experience with GPS/GNSS equipment is an added advantage.
- Math Skills: Strong numerical skills for quick calculations in the field (rise and fall method, coordinate geometry).
- Physical Fitness:Ability to work outdoors in rough terrain for extended periods.
