About the role

Assistant Teachers will work alongside primary teachers to support learning, learner supervision, and the smooth running of classrooms.

  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Reliability, organisation, and willingness to follow guidance.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and willingness to support different classes and activities.
  • Integrity, sound judgement, and commitment to safeguarding children.
  • Approachability and a good sense of humour.
  • A genuine interest in football and willingness to assist with afternoon football coaching. A formal coaching qualification is not required.

Qualifications and experience

  • A recognised teaching diploma.
  • Valid and current Teaching Council of Zambia registration.
  • Knowledge of the Zambian primary curriculum.
  • The ability to support literacy and numeracy teaching.
  • Previous experience working with primary-school learners will be an advantage, but no fixed number of years is required.
  • Competitive remuneration is on offer. The appointment will be made on a 3-year contract.
  • Support learners during lessons and classroom activities.
  • Work with individuals and small groups under the direction of a teacher.
  • Support reading, literacy and numeracy activities.
  • Help prepare teaching materials and organise classrooms.
  • Support learners who need additional explanation or practice.
  • Supervise learners during lessons, breaks and school activities.
  • Help maintain a safe, orderly and positive learning environment.
  • Assist with afternoon football and other school activities.
