The National Council for Construction (NCC) is committed to contributing effectively to sustainable economic growth through the promotion, development, training and regulation of the Zambian construction industry. We are seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to fill the following position:
Responsibilities or duties
The successful candidate will undertake routine maintenance of Council vehicles and plant to ensure the availability and reliability of the service fleet and equipment.
- Undertake vehicle inspections, tests, test drives, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs as required.
- Attend promptly to defects in workshop equipment and plant to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Service NCC vehicles by changing engine oil, spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, and other components requiring replacement to ensure vehicles remain in good working condition.
- Determine and requisition spare parts and service materials required for each job using the prescribed requisition procedures.
- Assist the supervisor in identifying suitable external garages to carry out major repairs and maintain close liaison with the garages to ensure work is completed satisfactorily before recommending payment.
- Maintain tools and equipment required for vehicle maintenance, assist in the acquisition of additional tools where necessary, and keep accurate records of the same.
- Clean NCC vehicles, plant and machinery before and after servicing or repairs.
Qualifications or requirements
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Craft Certificate in Automotive Mechanics.
Experience needed
- At least two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Assertive.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- High level of analytical ability.
- Honest and trustworthy.
- Physically fit.
