Purpose of the Job

Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems of company vehicles and ensuring they are roadworthy and meet operational requirements.

Main accountabilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in engines, brakes, suspension, and transmission systems
• Inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicle electrical systems including batteries, alternators, lighting, wiring, starter motors, and ignition systems
• Carries out preventive maintenance, including servicing and part replacements
• Keeps detailed maintenance records and updates service logs for each vehicle
• Uses diagnostic equipment and tools to identify faults and recommend corrective action
• Ensures repairs are carried out to required standards and in compliance with safety procedures
• Advises Transport Officer on parts procurement and spare usage
• Respond to roadside breakdowns and provides emergency support
• Assist in fitting and testing new electrical or mechanical parts and systems
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment in the workshop

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate with Five (5) O Levels
• Craft Certificate in Automotive Mechanics or Electrical
• 2 years minimum qualification in Automotive Mechanics/Electrical repairs and maintenance
