MEF is looking for a Bricklayer on contractual basis at Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation Campus in Mindolo Kitwe. S/he will be responsible for the effective construction, extension and repair works of the institution’s building structures. The successful candidate will also be required to conduct training activities in brick laying.
Reports to: The Head of Maintenance
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be required to perform the following duties:
Coordinating all training activities for the certificate course in brick laying
Understanding all building plans for construction
Planning, executing and coordinating all construction activities on campus
Preparing budgets and estimating cost for building works to be undertaken at all times
Measuring out building areas and set out the first rows of bricks and damp course
Sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials and uses spirit levels and plumb lines to check building alignment using hand tools or power
Following current rules and regulations related to construction
Keeping and maintaining records of time spent on a job and materials purchased for building works
Installing, maintaining and repairing buildings fittings and fixtures including roofing sheets, doors, windows, sealing boards and drains in all types of structures
Liaising with the supervisor and user departments and other construction professionals
Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
Qualification and Experience
Full Grade 12 School Certificate/GCE/Form Five (5)
Minimum crafts Certificate in Bricklaying or any other related field
TEVETA Accredited Trainer
At least Two (2) years working experience
Desirable Skills and Abilities
Able to teach
Proficiency with hand and power tools specific to the brick laying trade
Ability to effectively carry out brick laying techniques & skills
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
Have a strong sense of personal and work accountability
Able to multitask
AGE: 25 years and above
Commencement of duty: 20th May 2025
Background: Strong Christian background and able to work in an Ecumenical Environment.
