Our programs focus on system strengthening, continuous teacher professional development, and enhancing teaching and learning outcomes, particularly in early grade literacy and numeracy.
Position Summary
The Education Advisor will provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to design, implement, and monitor VVOB Zambia’s educational programs. The incumbent will work closely with government partners and education officials to strengthen their capacity to deliver high-quality, inclusive foundational education in alignment with national priorities and education reforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Advisory and Capacity Building
- Provide technical advice on early grade literacy, numeracy, and teacher professional development strategies.
- Co-design and facilitate capacity-building programs, workshops, and coaching trajectories for teachers, school leaders, and education officials.
- Support the development, contextualization, and review of high-quality training manuals, educational materials, and guidebooks.
2. Strategic Partnership and System Strengthening
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with directorates of the Ministry of Education at national, provincial, and district levels.
- Support institutionalization efforts to ensure VVOB-supported interventions are sustainably embedded within the public education system.
- Represent the organization in relevant education technical working groups, coordination meetings, and stakeholder forums.
3. Quality Assurance, Monitoring, and Learning
- Monitor program implementation to ensure interventions meet internal quality standards and donor requirements.
- Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team to collect data, analyze insights, and measure project impact.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and innovative approaches to inform evidence-based programming and policy advocacy.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related discipline. A Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience will also be considered.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive professional experience in the education sector, preferably within an international development context.
- Proven track record of working with or advising government ministries, public institutions, or decentralized education structures.
- Direct experience in teacher training, curriculum development, early childhood education, or foundational learning programs.
Competencies and Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of current educational trends, methodologies, and challenges in Zambia or sub-Saharan Africa.
- Exceptional facilitation, mentoring, and intercultural communication skills.
- High level of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and report-writing capabilities.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Delivery
- Installation & Setup – Pre-installed OS and basic productivity software (MS Office)
- Installation and Commissioning – Install and connect each system with windows operating system as per minimum specifications provided. Conduct testing to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Support & Maintenance - Suppliers must provide after-sales support, including Onsite warranty service, technical support hotline, Replacement policy for defective units within warranty period
