Background
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will have overall responsibility for the financial management of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia (LITZM), including funding, taxation, financial controls, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Executive Management Team, reporting directly to the Board and Shareholders, while providing strategic financial leadership to support the company’s growth and long-term objectives. This role is suited to an individual who is passionate about shaping business strategy, not merely reporting financial results.
Responsibilities
- Business Strategy & Planning: Co-develop the 5-year LITZM strategy and annual business plans, and provide timely, accurate financial analysis, insights, and forecasts to the Group and Regional CFO.
- Financial Reporting & Controls: Oversee statutory reporting, external audits, and the implementation of robust financial controls to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
- Corporate Finance & Treasury: Manage banking relationships, cash flow planning, liquidity, and funding requirements while ensuring compliance with financial covenants.
- Governance, Tax & Compliance: Provide strategic guidance on treasury management, transfer pricing, and tax optimization, while ensuring full compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate strategic, financial, operational, and compliance risks in collaboration with the Board and Executive Management.
- Negotiations & Stakeholder Management: Support commercial negotiations with suppliers and customers to safeguard working capital and capital expenditure efficiency while building and maintaining strong business relationships.
- People Leadership: Lead, develop, and mentor a finance team of more than 11 employees across General Ledger, Revenue Assurance, Credit Control, Statutory Compliance, and Planning & Forecasting functions.
Candidate Requirements
- CA(SA), ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification, together with a relevant degree.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in corporate finance, audit, and financial management, including leading a finance function through significant growth.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams across multiple locations.
- Experience within the telecommunications or technology sector (3-4 years) will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting standards, taxation, regulatory requirements, and corporate governance.
- Full membership with ZICA.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to advise the CEO and Executive Management on financial matters.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliver results within strict deadlines.
