Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly committed employees for the position of Civil Engineer – Housing Construction – LEP (Fixed Term) to join the Project Department. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Construction Superintendent – Housing, you will be responsible for supervising the construction of the Manyama Employee Housing Development and the Kamisengo RAP Housing Development, including the delivery of all associated civil and municipal infrastructure.
Responsibilities or duties
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise and manage construction activities onsite to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all assigned civil works, including earthworks, concrete works, roads, drainage, kerbs, paving, structural elements, and associated infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed scope of works and bills of quantities in with line the civil engineering and standard methods of measurements for specified civil work packages.
- Coordinate and schedule contractors to ensure that workforce and equipment are optimized for construction efficiency.
- Monitor project progress and performance against established baseline schedules and budgets, to ensure successful completion of civil engineering projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to track progress and ensure timely completion of tasks, project deliverables and milestones.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Oversee the procurement, delivery, and inventory management of construction materials and supplies.
- Evaluate and select suppliers and vendors based on quality, execution strategy, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on construction sites to ensure that construction is carried out according to the approved for construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to identify and resolve defects or deficiencies promptly on both materials and works.
- Maintain accurate daily site reports (progress, manpower, plant, safety).
- Maintain updated drawing registers, Inspection and test plans and all quality control documentation.
- Review all daily diaries, inspection logs, material delivery records, and equipment logs for contractors.
- Support quantity verification for interim payment applications for the contractor.
Qualifications or requirements
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline from a recognised institution.
- Registered Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
- Registered Professional Engineer and current member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with a valid Practising Licence.
- Must have a valid Manual Driver’s License.
Experience needed
- Minimum of four (4) years of construction experience in the mining industry in similar projects, particularly Housing, water treatment, sewer treatment, infrastructure and roads.
- Proven experience in construction management software
Any other provided details
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D software, MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera or other project management software.
