Job Summary
The Clinical Business Analyst works at the interface between clinical practice, public-health programmes and technical teams, translating clinical guidelines and health-service workflows into clear, testable system requirements.
Main Duties
- Leads analysis of clinical and health-service workflows and facilitates requirements sessions with clinicians, programme specialists and technical teams.
- Translates clinical guidelines and policy into functional and non-functional requirements, process maps, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Maintains structured requirements documentation and traceability, and ensures requirements are testable before development begins.
- Supports backlog refinement and prioritisation, and manages change requests and their effect on existing workflows.
- Defines clinical data elements, terminology, decision-support rules and interoperability requirements.
- Identifies clinical safety, usability and data-quality risks arising from system changes.
- Coordinates user acceptance testing and confirms that delivered functionality meets approved requirements.
- Acts as principal liaison between clinical stakeholders and technical teams, and supports change management, training content and user adoption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medicine, or another health discipline, Computer Science, or in Health Informatics, Information Systems or a related field.
- Master's degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Information Systems or Business Analysis.
- At least five years' relevant experience in health information systems, clinical informatics, business analysis, health-programme design or digital health.
- Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting system requirements, and a sound understanding of clinical or public-health workflows.
- Clinical practice experience in a health facility.
- Professional business-analysis certification.
- Experience with an electronic health record or other clinical information system.
- Experience with WHO SMART Guidelines or Digital Adaptation Kits.
- Experience with HL7 FHIR or health terminology standards.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Clinical workflow analysis; process mapping; requirements elicitation; user stories; acceptance criteria; requirements traceability; user acceptance testing; digital health; EHR concepts; interoperability; data standards; usability and change management.
