JOB PURPOSE
Grow and secure the facility's revenue streams by developing the inbound WEEE supply pipeline and the downstream offtake market for recovered materials and refurbished goods. Build the commercial partnerships — corporate generators, OEMs, collectors, refiners and buyers — that make the MRF financially sustainable beyond grant funding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage offtake contracts for recovered fractions (ferrous, aluminium, copper, plastics, printed circuit boards and precious-metal-bearing material) with local and international refiners and buyers.
- Build the inbound feedstock pipeline through corporate WEEE-generator agreements, OEM take-back/EPR partnerships, institutional and government contracts.
- Grow and formalise the collector network with clear commercial terms, incentives and service-level expectations.
- Sell ITAD services (secure data destruction, asset recovery) and refurbished/certified pre-owned equipment to businesses and consumers.
- Set and review pricing for collection services, gate fees, ITAD, refurbished goods and material sales in line with market and cost data.
- Track commodity/scrap price indices and time material sales to optimise realised value.
- Prepare commercial proposals, tenders and EPR/producer-responsibility scheme submissions.
- Develop the facility brand, marketing and awareness campaigns promoting responsible e-waste recycling in Zambia.
- Maintain a CRM pipeline and report revenue, margin and business-development progress to the General Manager.
- Support grant reporting with commercial sustainability metrics and market-development evidence.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Economics or Environmental/Engineering discipline; 5-8 years in sales, business development, trading or commercial management, ideally in scrap/metals, recycling, commodities or environmental services; contract-negotiation track record.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Negotiation and deal-closing; market and commodity-price analysis; contract management; stakeholder and partnership building; commercial modelling; presentation and proposal writing; understanding of WEEE/EPR frameworks.
