Gheewala Zambia Staffing & Recruitment Agency is seeking skilled, passionate, and hardworking Cooks to join our catering team. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting smooth kitchen operations while delivering excellent food service to customers.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing daily kitchen operations.
  • Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
  • Properly handle, store, and label food items to prevent wastage and contamination.
  • Monitor food stock levels and report shortages to the Head Chef.
  • Assist with menu preparation and suggest improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are cleaned and maintained properly.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.
  • Work effectively with other kitchen and catering staff to ensure excellent service delivery.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
  • Certificate or qualification in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hospitality, or related field will be an added advantage.
  • Valid food safety or hygiene certification is an added advantage.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience working as a Cook, Kitchen Assistant or similar role.
  • Experience in catering, restaurants, hotels, or large-scale food preparation environments.
  • Ability to prepare different types of meals while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Experience working under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
