VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: COORDINATOR - PRODUCTION

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly efficient, committed, and proactive individual for the position of Coordinator - Production to join the versatile Mining Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Load and Haul Superintendent, you will be responsible for delivering the load and haul objectives of the mine plan and mine budget.

Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

  • Develop continuous improvement strategies and communicate and apply accordingly.
  • Monitor dump maintenance and flow level control.
  • Monitor the material that is being mined.
  • Ensure all controls are in place at the dig face i.e. pegs, mark-up and TBM.
  • Operate and allocate mining equipment to optimize production in accordance with the mine plan.
  • Ensure breaks, hot seat change and refueling of all mobile equipment are well coordinated.
  • Provide consistency between shift hand over through accurate pit set up / inform incoming shift.
  • Ensure the dispatch system is utilized as an inherent part of the section and appropriate production improvements are managed continuously.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Degree in mining engineering.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in open pit mining industry.
  • Must be the Member of engineering institute of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.

About the Team

The Lumwana copper mine is a conventional open pit (truck and shovel) operation. It’s located about 100 kilometers west of Solwezi in Zambia’s Copperbelt — one of the most prospective copper regions in the world. Lumwana ore, which is predominantly sulfide, is treated through a conventional sulfide flotation plant, producing copper concentrate.
