Reporting to the Supervisor - Cranes, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and complaint - lifting activities that support maintenance tasks, projects, and daily operational requirements.

Responsibilities or duties

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Operate mobile cranes according to OEM specifications to support maintenance and operational lifting needs.
• Perform pre‑operational checks, inspections, and ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
• Work closely with riggers, artisans, and maintenance teams during lifting operations.
• Ensure all lifts comply with site safety standards, load limits, and operating procedures.
• Assist with planning, setting up, and executing complex lifts as required.
• Report equipment defects, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Ensure that FLRA, lift plan, JSA and all required documents are available and completed for every lift
• Support general maintenance and housekeeping tasks when not engaged in crane operations.
• Effectively work with other team members and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
• Valid Crane Operator certificate from a recognized institution or equivalent
• Ability to interpret load charts, lift plans and follow instructions accurately.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Holder of a valid driving license
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Experience needed

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in operating cranes, preferably in the mining or similar industry.

Holder of forklift, and overhead crane operations permit will be an added advantage.
