The Distribution Sales Representative will be responsible for generating leads, servicing retail and wholesale accounts, and providing appropriate product solutions to customers to increase market share and drive customer acquisition within the FMCG sector. This role involves analyzing market potential, tracking sales performance, and achieving sales and profitability targets. The Distribution Sales Representative will work closely with the Sales Manager to deliver sales presentations, promote products, and negotiate contracts with clients.
Responsibilities or duties
- Negotiate contracts and trading terms with prospective and existing clients.
- Assist in determining pricing schedules for quotations, promotions, and negotiations in line with company policy.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly sales reports.
- Deliver sales presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients and trade customers.
- Coordinate sales efforts with marketing programs and promotional campaigns.
- Understand and promote company products, programs, and distribution strategies.
- Obtain deposits and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances from clients.
- Prepare and submit sales contracts and confirmed orders.
- Visit retail outlets, wholesalers, and potential clients to evaluate needs and promote FMCG products.
- Monitor competition by gathering information on pricing, products, and market trends.
- Plan and coordinate marketing intelligence activities within the assigned territory.
- Resolve customer complaints through teamwork and ensure excellent customer service.
- Keep up to date with best practices and trends in the FMCG industry.
- Coordinate sales activities with internal teams to ensure product availability and efficient distribution.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations to prospective customers.
- Negotiate contracts and close sales deals.
- Manage month-end sales reconciliations and reporting.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Advanced Certificate or Diploma in Sales and Marketing or Business Administration.
- Strong understanding of the sales process, territory management, and FMCG market dynamics.
- Commitment to excellent customer service.
- Proficient in the use of a smartphone for sales reporting and order processing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a manual vehicle.
- Must be a member of ZIM.
Experience needed
- Minimum of 2–3 years progressive experience in sales, preferably within FMCG distribution.
