The Required Skills for this Role Include:
- Ensuring drivers understand and follow state and local traffic regulations, as well as company safety protocols.
- Working closely with the fleet management team to identify training needs and implement tailored training programs.
- Reporting all accidents and incidents to the logistics and workshop manager.
- Teach safe driving practices, defensive driving techniques, and company-specific policies and procedures.
- Working with the Transport manager in the selection and hiring of new drivers.
- Conducting weekly toolbox meetings with the drivers.
- Maintaining accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and evaluations for each driver.
- Staying updated on new driving technologies, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Designing and implementing safety meetings under the direction of the Environmental Safety Manager and Transport Manager.
- Driving routes/field trips as needed.
- Performing all other duties assigned by the Transport Manager
- Offering ongoing coaching and guidance to drivers to help them improve skills and meet company objectives
- Providing training on accident prevention, proper vehicle maintenance, and emergency response.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Valid driving instructor’s license or certification.
- Proven experience as a driving instructor.
- Clear criminal record.
- Class C/CE PSV License Endorsements
The Required skills, Knowledge, and Competencies for the role include:
- Analyzing the performance of drivers per individual
- Proper and accurate records, Ability to keep.
- Able to create suitable training programs
- Ability to interact with staff and others in an open, friendly, business-like manner.
- Ability to follow regulations pertaining to the safe operation of vehicles and equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
