The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all electrical systems and equipment at the mine site, including crusher plants, conveyor belts, pumps, and lighting systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance on electrical installations (HT/LT panels, motors, transformers, and switchgears).
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical faults in heavy machinery and plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Project Management: Supervise new electrical installations and upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Team Supervision: Lead a team of electricians and technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring quality of work.
- Inventory Management: Manage the electrical spare parts inventory and requisition supplies as needed.
- Safety: Ensure all electrical work complies with the Mines Safety Department regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and hold a valid Practicing License.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of motor control centers, VFDs, and PLCs is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
