Background

Our client, in the Energy and Petroleum Industry, a downstream oil and gas company operating retail service stations, fuel depots, and bulk supply chains across the country wishes to hire the following positions.

Job Purpose

To install, maintain, and repair electrical systems specific to petrol-station construction, including dispensers, pumps, lighting, and control panels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install conduit, wiring, distribution boards, and equipment for fueling facilities in line with design drawings.
  • Wire and commission fuel dispensers, pumps, POS systems, leak detection, and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Perform testing, inspection, and fault-finding on electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Carry out preventive and reactive maintenance on site electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure intrinsically safe and low-voltage installations comply with petroleum industry standards.
  • Support commissioning and handover of electrical systems to client.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Trade test or diploma in Electrical Installation/Electrical Engineering.
  • TEVETA or ERB registration (Zambia) as Electrician.
  • Certification in hazardous area electrical installations (petroleum/fuel stations) is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 4–6 years’ electrical experience, with at least 2 years in petrol-station or fueling facility projects.
  • Hands-on experience with dispensers, pumps, controllers, and POS systems.

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and petroleum safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Site-based with possible on-call duties for emergency call-outs.
  • Work may involve energized systems; strict adherence to safety protocols required.
