Job description:

PURPOSE

Responsible for managing and supervising the construction team in the execution of Construction projects in the pit to meet the approved safety and quality specifications, geometric design of roads, ensuring design information is transferred and shared with relevant surveyors and MTS departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement and Maintain inspection and quality control systems, in order to maintain contractual obligations.
• Geometric design of roads
• Material testing controls and record keeping
• Material controls and record keeping.
• Arrange and chair contractor’s site meetings.
• Oversee Road construction projects to ensure site requirements are met within safety and quality standards Setup a certification system for construction quality control.
• Generate reports as and when requested by Management.
• Ensuring all safety procedure are enforced on site.
• Updates job knowledge with emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with the Mines Safety regulations.
• Measure and mark ramp gradient (elevation).
• Coordinate / manage construction projects, plan and schedule works.
• Any duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Construction / Civil Engineering or Equivalent.
• Valid First Aid Certificate

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in construction, earthmoving, civil and roads.
• Knowledge in Survey.
• Geometric road design knowledge required but not essential.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals in earth moving.
• Knowledge of drainage and drainage systems (Basic hydrology).
• Should be conversant with heavy equipment earth moving applications
• A team player and have the ability to work under intense pressure

Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education: bachelor degree
