Role Overview – Equipment Trainer Jobs in Kalumbila

As an Equipment Trainer reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive training programs. Your role will ensure employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to operate mining equipment safely and effectively, adhering to company and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored training plans aligned with operational needs.
  • Deliver induction, refresher, and on-the-job training sessions.
  • Conduct competency assessments and practical evaluations for equipment operators.
  • Identify training requirements through performance monitoring and operational feedback.
  • Maintain detailed training records, attendance logs, and competency matrices.
  • Ensure all training activities comply with company policies, client expectations, and statutory regulations.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive training reports to management.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote a robust safety culture by integrating health, safety, and environmental best practices into all training.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and department heads to schedule training and evaluate its effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certified Trainer or Instructor qualification (TEVETA or equivalent).
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in open-pit mining operations and heavy equipment training.
  • Experience in equipment repair is an advantage.
  • Proven track record as a trainer, instructor, or supervisor in heavy equipment operations.
  • Familiarity with open-pit mining and construction equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, loaders, and dozers.
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Training, Engineering, Mining, or a related discipline.
  • Competency-based training and assessment experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • In-depth understanding of adult learning principles and effective training design.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a willingness to travel to mine sites and training locations.
  • Physically fit to conduct training and mentoring activities.
  • Valid medical certificate, including Silicosis clearance.
