Job Purpose
The Equity and Bond Market Dealer will be responsible for executing client buy and sell orders in listed equities, government securities, and corporate bonds on the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) and other approved markets. The role is accountable for achieving best execution for clients, generating brokerage revenue, supporting market liquidity, and ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory and exchange requirements.
Reporting Line
Reports to: Head – Brokerage & Stockbroking
Key Responsibilities
1. Trading and Execution
Execute client orders in equities, government bonds, corporate bonds, and collective investment schemes through the LuSE Automated Trading System (ATS).
Achieve best execution by utilizing appropriate trading strategies, including market, limit, and block trades.
Execute block trades and pre-negotiated transactions in accordance with LuSE Rules and regulatory requirements.
Monitor market activity, order books, liquidity levels, and pricing trends to provide clients with informed execution guidance.
Handle fixed-income transactions, including Requests for Quotations (RFQs), bond auctions, and secondary market trading of Government of Zambia and corporate debt instruments.
2. Client Service and Business Development
Receive, validate, and process orders from institutional investors, pension funds, asset managers, high-net-worth individuals, and retail clients.
Provide timely market commentary, pricing information, and investment insights to clients.
Proactively identify and communicate trading and investment opportunities across equity and fixed-income markets.
Maintain accurate trading records and ensure timely issuance of trade confirmations to clients and relevant internal stakeholders.
3. Market Making and Liquidity Support
Provide market quotes on designated securities in accordance with market-making obligations and exchange rules.
Monitor and manage inventory and exposure risks associated with market-making activities.
Support efficient price discovery and contribute to improved market liquidity and trading activity.
4. Compliance and Settlement
Ensure all trading activities comply with the Securities Act, 2016, LuSE Rules, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) directives, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements.
Conduct client due diligence and suitability assessments prior to trade execution where applicable.
Ensure timely trade confirmation and settlement in accordance with applicable settlement cycles and operational procedures.
Complete all required regulatory, exchange, and internal trade reporting within prescribed timelines.
5. Research and Market Intelligence
Analyse company financial statements, LuSE announcements, government fiscal policy developments, and Bank of Zambia monetary policy updates.
Share relevant market intelligence with clients and internal stakeholders.
Identify and escalate significant market developments that may affect client portfolios, market sentiment, or trading activity.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Valid SEC Zambia Dealer Representative Licence and LuSE Authorised Dealer Accreditation.
Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years’ relevant experience in capital markets, stockbroking, treasury, asset management, or a related financial services environment.
Sound understanding of equity markets, bond pricing and yields, duration analysis, LuSE trading operations, and Central Securities Depository (CSD) processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and trading platforms; experience with Bloomberg and other market information systems will be an added advantage.

High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential and market-sensitive information.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
