Background
Walusungu Hospitality is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Farm Manager to oversee operations at Zimba Ranch, the primary food production unit supplying our hospitality business.
This is a hands-on management role requiring someone who is passionate about agriculture, possesses strong leadership skills, and is capable of managing multiple farming enterprises efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of:
- Piggery
- Cattle
- Goats
- Vegetable production
- Crop farming
- Supervise and lead 4 members of staff based at the ranch.
- Provide oversight and coordinate activities of 2 additional staff at the poultry section located at a separate site.
- Plan production schedules to ensure a consistent supply of quality produce to Walusungu Hospitality.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock, crops, production, feed, medicines, inputs and stock.
- Monitor animal health, breeding, feeding programmes and crop performance.
- Ensure proper maintenance of farm equipment, buildings and infrastructure.
- Uphold high standards of biosecurity, cleanliness, safety and efficiency.
- Prepare regular operational reports and recommend improvements to increase productivity and profitability.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness or a related field is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years' practical experience managing a mixed farm.
- Proven experience with livestock management and crop production.
- Strong leadership and staff management skills.
- Honest, disciplined, organised and able to work independently.
- Valid driver's licence will be an added advantage.
- Computer literacy and record-keeping skills are desirable.
