Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for positions based at its field office in Shangombo District, Western Province.
EFZ is a voluntary Christian church mother body registered under the Registrar of Societies in Zambia and operates as a non-profit organization. It is currently implementing the Climate Just Communities (CJC2) project in Shangombo District, funded by the Scottish Government and coordinated by NIRAS Group UK, with EFZ serving as the community delivery partner.
The CJC2 project supports climate-vulnerable communities through interventions in water access and management, climate-resilient agriculture, natural resource management (NRM), disaster risk reduction (DRR), market access, gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), and advocacy.
Responsibilities or duties
Reporting to the Field Coordinator, the duties will include but not limited to the following:
- Support development and workplanning of activities for implementation at ward level.
- Support the roll-out of the CJC interventions in agriculture, natural resources, water access and management, market facilitation, disaster risk reduction, GEDSI and advocacy.
- Provide technical oversight and support to communities participating in project activities.
- Support the implementation of activities by technical partners, contractors and consultants hired to deliver on specific interventions. Flag any risks with quality/timeliness of technical partners, consultants and sub-contractors to the Field Coordinator.
- Ensure completion of project activities and functionality of all investments.
- Oversee prudent utilization of project funds at community level.
- Ensure updated project inventory of all project investments and equipment.
- Ensure CJC2 delivers all interventions with a strong focus on GEDSI, in line with the project GEDSI Strategy for the inclusion of women, youth and people with disabilities. This will involve working closely with the Community Management Committees (CMCs)to ensure beneficiary selection is done based on vulnerability criteria and fairness.
- Support in the identification of advocacy issues and support Advocacy Champions to take these forward.
- Ensure updated monitoring data and contribute to project monitoring and evaluation activities and monthly reporting obligations.
- Support capacity building, coordination and collaboration between and among community groups and committees involved in the project, including the CMCs and other community-level committees such as Water Point Committees, Irrigation Management Committees, Satellite DRR Committees; and Natural Resource Management Committees and build linkages between the groups and traditional leaders, district government agencies, the private sector and other relevant stakeholders.
- Promote governance measures at community level to ensure intervention sustainability, particularly for community committees involved in project delivery.
- Contribute to the development of local exit plans including engagements with government agencies and traditional authorities.
- Represent CJC2 at Ward level, always acting with professionalism and according to the CJC2 Code of Conduct. Proactiveness and initiative are a key part of the job.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Must be a holder of a Degree in Natural Resources management, Agricultural Sciences, Social Science or any related field from a recognized institution. A Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
Experience needed
At least 2 years’ experience in community mobilisation and facilitation
Must have relevant experience in Climate Change related projects
Proven ability to develop and monitor work plans
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Proven written and oral communication
Must be self-reliant, resourceful, good humored and flexible
Must speak Lozi and in possession of a valid motorbike license
