Job description:
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Responsibilities or duties:
- Establish and maintain benchmarks, control points and reference stations
- Verify survey equipment calibration and accuracy
- Ensure survey control is consistent with approved project coordinate systems and datums
- Setting out of construction limits, toes, crests, slopes, boundaries and alignments
- Verify completed lift levels and geometry
- Identify deviations from design and communicate them to the Construction Projects Engineer
- Support short-term and weekly construction planning
- Conduct quantity measurements calculating cut and fill volumes
- Support reconciliation of placed material quantities against production records
- Conduct detailed as-built surveys of completed works, ensuring records of final locations are kept
- Maintain survey databases and project coordinate information
- Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel
- Participate in construction meetings and progress reviews
Qualifications or requirements:
- Full grade twelve (12) certificate
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics engineering or a closely related discipline
- Professional registration with recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB)
Key skills:
- Construction surveying
- High level of numerical and spatial accuracy
- High level competency in CAD/GIS
- Survey equipment operation
- Data management
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem solving and decision making
- Ability to work in a high-pressure construction environment
Experience needed:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of relevant construction/mining surveying
- Experience with relevant engineering survey platforms and software
- Experience with drone/UAV surveying and 3D modelling is advantageous
