Position: Field Tower Refueling Technician (6 vacancies)
Locations:
- 3 positions – Northern Province
- 3 positions – Muchinga Province
Role Purpose:
Ensure telecom towers remain operational by refueling diesel generators, monitoring fuel levels, inspecting equipment, and reporting any issues to achieve zero tower downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to telecom tower sites for diesel refueling.
- Take fuel dip and meter readings.
- Calculate fuel consumption and remaining operating days.
- Verify fuel seals and meters.
- Submit daily reports with:
- Six mandatory site photos
- GPS location
- Client signature/stamp
- Inspect generator condition and site security.
- Report theft, vandalism, or faults immediately.
- Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures and client SOPs.
- Prevent fuel spillages and accidents.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
- Trade Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is an advantage.
- At least 1 year of experience in diesel, generator, or fuel handling.
- Telecom tower experience is preferred.
- Valid Driver's License (Class B or C).
- Defensive driving skills are an added advantage.
- Basic mathematics skills.
- Ability to use a smartphone, WhatsApp, and GPS.
- Basic generator operation knowledge.
- Honest, reliable, physically fit, and able to work independently in remote areas.
Working Conditions & KPIs
- Approximately 80% field-based work.
- Working hours: 08:00–17:00, with emergency on-call duties.
- PPE provided.
- Performance measured by:
- 100% tower uptime
- 100% reporting compliance
- Less than 2% diesel variance
- Emergency response within 4 hours
- Zero HSE incidents
