PROFILE
IBZ Group Limited is a growing cross-border logistics and haulage company operating on the DRC – Zambia – South Africa route.
We operate a fleet of 8 Volvo 30-ton trucks, 1 MAN 30-ton truck, 1 Mercedes-Benz 12-ton truck, trailers and other support vehicles.
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Fleet Mechanic with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably with strong knowledge of Volvo, MAN and Mercedes-Benz heavy commercial vehicles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Service and maintain all company trucks, trailers and support vehicles.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, mechanical inspections, diagnostics and repairs.
- Attend to vehicle breakdowns and emergencies when required.
- Maintain accurate service histories, maintenance schedules and mechanical checklists.
- Coordinate spare parts and consumables required for scheduled maintenance.
- Inspect tyres, batteries, brakes, suspension, electrical systems and other critical components.
- Enforce daily driver pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Assist with driver technical vetting and orientation on vehicle care.
- Monitor fuel consumption and assist management with fuel-control measures.
- Maintain an inventory of truck tools, equipment and spare parts.
- Conduct regular checks to prevent unauthorised swapping or removal of tyres, batteries and other components.
- Monitor the general condition, cleanliness and roadworthiness of vehicles.
- Liaise with external workshops and suppliers where specialised repairs are required.
- Provide management with regular reports on fleet condition, repairs and maintenance requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Formal qualification in Motor Vehicle Mechanics / Diesel Mechanics / Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ practical experience.
- Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of Volvo, MAN and Mercedes-Benz trucks is an advantage.
- Experience with trailers is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s licence, preferably with heavy vehicle experience.
- Valid passport is a must
- Good record-keeping and reporting skills.

The successful candidate must be mature, honest, trustworthy, responsible, hands-on and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Integrity and accountability are particularly important due to the nature and value of the company’s fleet, spare parts and equipment.
