Responsibilities or duties

Forecasting & Quantification Support (Pharmacy)

• Supporting the annual forecasting and quantification cycle for pharmaceutical commodities through data collection, consolidation, and preliminary analysis.
• Supporting the quantification of ARVs, TB medicines and essential medicines using QAT and other approved forecasting tools.
• Assisting in validating forecasting assumptions, consumption data and other key inputs to ensure accurate and realistic commodity requirements.
• Monitoring consumption patterns, trends and utilization of assigned pharmacy commodity lines and identifying potential supply risks or significant variances.

Data Quality & Records Management

• Conducting data quality assessments and validation checks on pharmacy forecasting datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date forecasting databases, records and supporting documentation for pharmaceutical commodities.
• Supporting data analysis, interpretation, and visualization for FASP reporting, forecasting reviews and supply planning decision-making.
• Identifying and escalating data gaps, inconsistencies, and discrepancies to the FASP Specialist – Pharmacy for timely resolution.

Pipeline Monitoring

• Monitoring pharmaceutical commodity pipelines, including shipment status, delivery timelines, stock availability and expected arrivals.
• Tracking commodity movements and pipeline updates to identify potential supply gaps, delays and risks affecting pharmaceutical commodities.
• Identifying and escalating pipeline bottlenecks, shipment delays and availability concerns to the FASP Specialist – Pharmacy for timely action.
• Supporting coordination with suppliers, programme teams, procurement, logistics and other stakeholders to resolve pipeline issues and minimize disruptions in pharmaceutical commodity availability.

Capacity Building Support

• Supporting the FASP Specialist – Pharmacy in mentoring and coaching MOH/ZAMMSA forecasting staff on pharmaceutical commodity forecasting and supply planning.
• Assisting in developing and updating training materials, job aids and practical guidance for QAT and other forecasting tools.
• Providing technical support and practical demonstrations to strengthen staff capacity in the use of forecasting tools and methodologies.
• Supporting competency transfer through the “I Do, We Do, You Do” approach, including on-the-job coaching and follow-up with MOH/ZAMMSA staff.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Ordinary level (GCSE)/ Grade Twelve
• Diploma in Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in health supply chain forecasting, quantification, or pharmaceutical commodity management.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

• Ordinary level (GCSE)/ Grade Twelve
• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Supply Chain Management, Public Health, or a related field.
• Training or certification in forecasting and quantification (e.g., QAT).
• Experience with quantification tools (QAT, Quantimed, or similar).
• Experience working in NGO or PEPFAR-funded programmes.
• Experience working in HIV or TB commodity supply chain projects.
