Position Overview
The Fuel Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a fuel storage and distribution facility. This role ensures safe handling, efficient supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction. The manager will lead a team of depot staff, coordinate logistics, and maintain high standards of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Supervise fuel receipt, storage, and dispatch activities.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols for handling hazardous materials.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and facilities.
- Maintain accurate records for regulatory reporting.
Team Leadership
- Manage depot staff schedules, training, and performance.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with drivers, suppliers, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and operational reports.
- Control costs while maximizing efficiency.
- Oversee billing, documentation, and customer service processes.
Logistics & Customer Relations
- Liaise with transport companies to ensure timely deliveries.
- Resolve customer complaints and maintain strong client relationships.
- Optimize supply chain processes to reduce downtime and delays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fuel, oil & gas, or logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of fuel handling and depot operations.
- Ability to manage budgets and operational KPIs.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems.
- Strong decision-making under pressure.
- Commitment to safety and compliance.
