JOB ADVERT – GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

Kamimbi Aqua Feed (Formerly known as Aller Aqua Zambia Ltd) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of General Accountant. This role is based at the Kamimbi Aqua Feed mill, in Siavonga, Zambia.

JOB PURPOSE:

The General Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial and inventory reporting by managing ERP-based production adjustments, reconciling stock and ledger accounts, maintaining statutory compliance, preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements, supporting audits and budgeting processes, and strengthening internal controls to enhance cost efficiency and regulatory adherence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing all production adjustments accurately and on time on BC365.
  • Reconciling production data with stocks reports and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Preparing daily stocks reports and presenting them to the Inventory Accountant.
  • Reporting any unreconciled variances in stocks.
  • Perform spot counts on the key raw materials.
  • Ensuring all finance inventory documents are neatly labelled and filed.
  • Performing any other tasks that might be requested by the Inventory Accountant.
  • Collaborate with ICT to enhance ERP functionality, supporting automation of financial processes to reduce manual input.
  • Ensures adherence to obligations under NAPSA, NHIMA, PAYE, Workers’ Compensation, ZRA, and applicable local authorities remittances.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Zambian regulations.
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including stock valuation, cost allocation, and reconciliation of physical counts with ERP data.
  • Monitor stock losses and implement controls to align with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for cost efficiency, as identified in company performance reviews.
  • Participates in the preparation and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial records and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in payables, receivables, and inventory accounting.
  • Professional Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountant (ZICA).
  • Knowledge international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Proven expertise in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Business Central (BC)), or equivalent) for financial management.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP software for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment with attention to detail.
  • Unquestionable integrity.
  • Must uphold the company and professional code of ethics.
  • Results must be certified by ZAQA
