JOB PURPOSE
To provide strategic financial leadership and operational accounting oversight, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, effective working capital management, and value creation across AMAC’s seed production and distribution value chain.
KEY RESULT AREAS
1️⃣ Financial Reporting & IFRS Compliance
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Conduct bank, debtors, creditors, payroll, and inventory reconciliations.
- Maintain structured month-end checklists to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
2️⃣ Cash Flow & Working Capital Management (Seasonal Agribusiness Focus)
- Develop cash flow forecasts.
- Manage seasonal liquidity pressures.
- Align receivables with harvesting revenue cycles.
- Monitor inventory financing and input-heavy expenditure periods.
- Advise management on liquidity risk mitigation strategies.
3️⃣ Banking & Treasury Management
- Maintain professional relationships with commercial banks.
- Manage overdrafts, loan facilities, and trade finance instruments.
- Monitor loan covenants and compliance requirements.
- Prepare management accounts and financial packs for banks.
- Support negotiations for working capital facilities.
4️⃣ Statutory & Regulatory Compliance (Zambia)
- Ensure full compliance with:
- VAT, PAYE, and Company Income Tax (ZRA)
- NAPSA and NHIMA statutory remittances
- Prepare and reconcile statutory returns.
- Ensure zero penalties and timely filings.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation at all times.
5️⃣ Inventory & Cost Accounting (Seed & Biological Assets)
- Manage accounting for seed production and biological assets.
- Apply appropriate valuation methods.
- Allocate production costs accurately across seed varieties.
- Oversee stock count procedures and shrinkage controls.
- Perform margin and cost build-up analysis from production to distribution.
6️⃣ Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with departmental heads.
- Conduct variance analysis and cost monitoring.
- Align production plans with financial projections.
- Provide scenario analysis for expansion or capital investment.
7️⃣ Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Design and enforce segregation of duties.
- Identify and correct control weaknesses.
- Implement fraud prevention measures.
- Maintain documented financial policies and procedures.
- Safeguard company assets.
8️⃣ Accounting Systems & Automation
- Utilize and optimize ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Pastel, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Develop automated financial reports and dashboards.
- Ensure system integrity and audit trails.
- Improve reporting efficiency and reduce manual errors.
9️⃣ Stakeholder Communication & Business Partnering
- Present financial reports to non-finance managers.
- Translate financial data into operational insights.
- Support production and sales teams with cost and margin analysis.
- Prepare executive-level financial summaries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Full ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or equivalent professional qualification (or finalist level with strong experience).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role (agribusiness/manufacturing preferred).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Zambian tax legislation.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
AGRIBUSINESS EXPERIENCE (ADVANTAGE)
- Experience in seed production or agricultural value chains.
- Knowledge of out-grower schemes and seasonal financing models.
- Understanding of inventory management in production-driven environments
