Background
Longhorn Insurance Brokers Limited is an insurance broking firm licensed and regulated by the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA). The Company provides insurance and other risk management solutions to retail and corporate clients across diverse sectors, including mining, construction, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, energy and financial services.
Job Purpose
To drive the Company’s Vision and Mission by providing strategic leadership, formulating and implementing effective strategies, policies, plans, managing operations and resources responsibly and accountably to ensure the successful achievement of the Company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversee the implementation of the Company's strategic plan
- Develop and execute business growth strategies to increase market share, revenue, profitability and customer retention
- Ensure compliance with the Insurance Act, PIA regulations and all applicable laws.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers, reinsurers, corporate clients, regulators and other stakeholders
- Drive business development and strategic partnerships
- Oversee insurance operations, underwriting support, claims administration and customer service to ensure high service standards
- Promote and strengthen sound corporate governance, enterprise risk management and effective internal controls
- Promote a high-performance culture, employee engagement and talent development
- Ensure sound financial management and budgeting
- Report regularly to the Board on business performance
Qualifications and experience
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, CA, ACCA, CIMA or any business-related field
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of ten (10) relevant years’ experience with diverse experience in Insurance, Investments and Financial Management. At least 5 years in senior management or executive leadership
- In-depth knowledge of the Zambian insurance market, regulatory environment, and industry best practices
- Must meet the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) fit-and-proper requirements applicable for this role
Technical Competencies and Attributes
- Good strategic and entrepreneurial skills
- Strong brokerage and financial management experience
- Knowledge of corporate governance, compliance and risk management
- Stakeholder Management with excellent communication skills
- Strong Business Development experience
- Innovation and change management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and insurance management systems.
