Through Bila, our payment aggregation platform, we enable businesses to collect payments seamlessly through mobile money, bank transfers, payment links, QR codes, USSD, and other digital payment channels.

As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Sales to lead merchant acquisition, revenue growth, and sales team performance across Zambia.

Role Summary

The Head of Sales will be responsible for driving the commercial growth of Bila by acquiring high-quality merchants, increasing transaction volumes, building strategic relationships, and leading a team of field sales representatives.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring an individual who is comfortable both in the field engaging merchants and in the office managing performance, reporting, coaching, and sales strategy.

The successful candidate will be expected to build a high-performing sales culture focused on merchant acquisition, activation, transaction growth, and revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and manage the Bila sales team.
  • Set and monitor individual and team sales targets.
  • Conduct weekly sales reviews and performance coaching sessions.
  • Build and implement sales strategies to drive merchant acquisition and growth.

Merchant Acquisition

  • Identify, prospect, and onboard high-quality merchants.
  • Develop relationships with SMEs, retailers, wholesalers, service providers, and enterprise clients.
  • Drive field sales activities and merchant engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure merchants are successfully onboarded and activated.

Revenue & Transaction Growth

  • Increase transaction volumes across the merchant portfolio.
  • Drive merchant adoption and ongoing platform usage.
  • Monitor merchant performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Work closely with operations and customer support teams to ensure merchant success.

Reporting & CRM Management

  • Maintain accurate sales records and pipeline reporting.
  • Ensure proper use of CRM systems and sales tracking tools.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales performance reports.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitor insights.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales within the fintech, banking, payments, financial services, telecommunications, or related sectors.
  • Proven experience in field sales and merchant acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve sales and revenue targets.
  • Experience managing or supervising a sales team.
  • Strong understanding of merchant payments, mobile money, acquiring, or digital financial services.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
