The HSE Officer will develop, implement, and monitor safety and environmental strategies across our agricultural sites. You will ensure that farm workers, machinery operators, and chemical handlers operate within legal safety limits. Your goal is to achieve "Zero Harm" by identifying agricultural hazards—such as tractor accidents, chemical exposure, and zoonotic diseases—before they lead to injury.

Safety Training & Induction: Lead "Toolbox Talks" and safety inductions for permanent and seasonal workers, focusing on the safe use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Chemical & Bio-hazard Management: Oversee the storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with environmental laws.

Incident Investigation: Lead the "Root Cause Analysis" for any on-site accidents or near-misses and file mandatory reports to the Occupational Health and Safety Institute (OHSI).

Emergency Preparedness: Develop and test emergency plans for brush fires, chemical spills, and medical emergencies in remote farm locations.

Legal Compliance: Act as the primary liaison for Government Labour Inspectors, ensuring the farm meets all standards of the Factories Act and the OHS Act No. 16 of 2025.

Environmental Oversight: Monitor water usage and waste management to prevent soil contamination or local water pollution.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Education: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT NO. 8 OF 2023 and the OHS Act.

Physical Ability: Must be able to traverse uneven farm terrain and work in varied weather conditions.
