OB DETAILS:
Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics to work mostly with our Cross Boarder Trucks (Shacman). Must be based in Kitwe, Kalulushi, Mufurila and Chingola.
Job Purpose:
To inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty diesel-powered trucks, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on underground heavy-duty diesel trucks and compressors etc).
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and manuals.
- Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, and suspension components.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, hoses, and cylinders.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with underground safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Complete job cards, maintenance reports, and service records accurately.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns on the road environments in a timely manner.
- Work closely with operations teams to reduce equipment downtime.
- Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities.
- Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in commissioning new or rebuilt equipment when required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Full Grade Twelve (Grade 12) Certificate.
- Trade Certificate in Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on heavy-duty diesel equipment, preferably Trucks (Shacman).
- Experience inTransport and Logistics operations is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic auto-electrical systems(indicate machines worked on).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
