Job Overview

J&J Transport Zambia Limited is recruiting suitably qualified individuals with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience to support the growth of our workshop operations. Successful candidates will ensure the effective operation of the J&J Transport Zambia Fleet through planned servicing, repair, and maintenance of all trucks and equipment.

Positions Available

  1. Heavy Duty Mechanics (Lusaka/Katima Mulilo/Chingola/Nakonde)
  2. Assistant Mechanics
  3. Auto Electricians

Key Responsibilities

  • Heavy Duty Mechanics:
    • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
    • Conduct routine inspections to ensure fleet reliability and safety.
    • Replace or repair engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components.
    • Maintain accurate service records and report on equipment status.
  • Assistant Mechanics:
    • Support senior mechanics in diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues.
    • Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and tire rotations.
    • Ensure tools and workspaces are clean and organized.
    • Learn and apply advanced mechanical techniques under supervision.
  • Auto Electricians:
    • Diagnose and repair electrical systems in trucks, including wiring and lighting.
    • Install and test electrical components such as alternators and starters.
    • Troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools and ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Maintain detailed records of electrical repairs and upgrades.

Minimum Requirements

  • Academic Background: Relevant Diploma/Craft Certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanics/Auto Electrical from a reputable institution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an international Transport or Logistics Company.
  • Age: Not less than 25 years.
  • Proactive, with the ability to take initiative to solve problems.
  • Time availability: Willingness to work weekends/rotational public holidays as workload requires.
  • Holder of a valid driving license.
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
